The Edge of the Wild

The Edge of the Wild is a feature-length documentary that is directed, produced, and edited by Gail Mallimson.  The film, which premiered in 2015, tells the story of a contentious land-use battle in a small Californian town that is home to a very rare butterfly, and of how this struggle has affected environmental policy across the country. The film premiered at the San Francisco Green Film Festival in May, 2015 and is currently in distribution nationally.  The entire film can be viewed for free on Kanopy, which is accessible through your library.
